The past 2 weeks my trash can has been stolen by the idiots that live on the other side of the alley from me. The cops won’t do anything about it, even though I pay the city to have an extra trash can. I don’t understand what makes people think that they can just appropriate other peoples property for their own use.

Is it a cultural thing? Is their a language barrier that prevents them from understanding the commonly used Arabic numerals that have been in use for centuries? My trash cans are clearly marked with my street number. The people across the alley have a different street number, so the symbols that mark the can are clearly different.
The only thing I can think is that they are too poor, stupid and ignorant (each having nothing to do with the other) to realize that they are doing something wrong. I tried banging on their fence to get their attention, but got no response. I tried walking around to the front of their place and knocked on the door, but got no answer. Maybe I should park my tail in a lawn chair in the alley and wait for them to show up so I can at least yell at them.

But that would probably get me shot.
