Thursday’s Terrorist Attack in London
Published by finn July 8th, 2005 in PoliticsI was going to write a long winded rant about the terrorist attack in London, but my buddy Kha0z beat me to it. His rant echos what I feel about the situation in a slightly humous sort of way.
Personally, I have a hard time understanding what makes these people upset enough to kill people that have no direct influence on the actions and policies of a nation (and the nation’s leaders) they despise. I think it is abhorent to resort to violence of any sort to promote policy change. But that is just me. I know that here in the United States, we have people that think it is perfectly okay to murder doctors who perform abortions. We have people that feel it okay to discriminate based on religion, gender, skin color (I refuse to say race, especially since we are all the same species), sexual orientation and national origin (which is different from skin color or race). The things that we do (and yes we all have our biases and prejudices) set an example for future generations. We need to stand up, as one people, and find a way to stop all the anger, hatred and bigotry in our national culture and our international culture.
I don’t have an answer yet, but as I keep talking to my friends and family I hope to come closer to one.
