A Day on a Boat
Published by finn March 28th, 2005 in Around the LBCThursday night I left Long Beach for a little boat trip. Well, it wasn’t exactly a boat trip, it was more like a fishing trip. My employer graciously paid for a fishing trip, even rod & reel rental and fishing license, for those of us who wanted to go fishing. I took advantage of the opportunity and embarked on a overnight fishing trip. We all boarded the boat at around 9pm on Thursday night and headed for Catalina. We stopped and picked up some bait (sardines) at a bait barge. When we got to the island, we started catching squid so that we could use them as bait too.
After a little bit of sleep and some food, we started fishing. We fished all day, up until a little after 5pm on Friday. I caught a small perch (or maybe it was a blue bass) and a sheepshead, neither of which I could keep. A few people faired better than I catching a variety of rock fish, some stripped bass (I think) and some sea bass.
Even though I didn’t catch anything, I had a great time. I think I’ll try to go out fishing again some time.
I took a few pictures, I’ll post them in the gallery when I get a chance…
update: I’ve added the pictures to the photo section - Fishing with the boys from work - Mar 2005
